Why Travel Insurance Matters

Teeming River Cruises makes every effort to ensure that guests' trips are safe and enjoyable. However, situations beyond our and their control may occur. We wish our passengers and guests never had to cancel or interrupt their vacation, but occasionally things beyond their control force them to change their plans.

We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance. Travel Insurance offers a comprehensive plan to address many travel concerns such as trip cancellation and interruption, lost and delayed baggage benefits, and emergency medical coverage. Keep in mind that as a passenger, your health plan coverage for a stay outside the US may be limited.

If you decline insurance coverage, you will personally assume full responsibility for any financial loss associated with your travel arrangements, and you could lose your travel investment and/or have to pay more money to correct the situation.

What's Covered

Where not otherwise excluded, customers may still have coverage in some cases:

  • Emergency Medical/Dental expenses and Emergency Medical Transportation may be available for a customer who becomes ill while traveling.
  • Customers who are seriously ill or who are denied boarding by their travel supplier due to their serious illness, or have family members, traveling companions, or hosts outside the United States who are seriously ill, may be covered if they need to cancel or interrupt their trip.
  • Customers who are quarantined or subject to mandatory government-ordered evacuations at their destination may also be covered if they have to cancel or interrupt their trip.
  • Customers canceling or interrupting their trip for these reasons may be eligible to receive a reimbursement of their lost prepaid, non-refundable travel deposits and other covered expenses, as specified in their plan.
  • Customers who purchased our Cancel Anytime product and meet the requirements of coverage for that product may cancel their trip for almost any unforeseen reason and receive reimbursement for a portion of their lost non-refundable travel deposits.
  • If a customer's travel is delayed due to quarantine or a travel carrier delay, they may be eligible to be reimbursed for covered expenses incurred as a result of that delay, depending on and as specified in their plan.
  • Cruise customers who have Missed Port of Call Coverage may be covered if their cruise misses a scheduled port of call indicated on the original itinerary or replaces it with another port of call.

Please note, most plans, including Cancel Anytime plans, contain general exclusions from coverage for any loss directly or indirectly due to any loss, condition, or event that was known or foreseeable when the plan was purchased, or due to an epidemic. Further, most plans contain a general exclusion from coverage for losses directly or indirectly due to acts, travel alerts/bulletins, or prohibitions of any government or public authority except as expressly covered.

Important Reminders

  • The vacation participant agrees that neither Teeming River Cruises nor its affiliates shall be liable for any damage, loss (including personal injury, death, and property loss), or expense occasioned by any act or omission of any supplier providing services, any insurer or insurance administrator under the Travel Protection plan, or any other person.
  • We recommend purchasing travel insurance within 14 days of your initial trip deposit to ensure maximum coverage benefits, including coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
  • Travel insurance is non-refundable once purchased. Please review your policy carefully before completing your purchase.

What is Cancel Anytime coverage?

Cancel Anytime is an optional upgrade that allows you to cancel your trip for almost any unforeseen reason and receive reimbursement for a portion (typically 80%) of your lost non-refundable travel deposits.

Can I purchase insurance after I've booked my cruise?

Yes, you can purchase travel insurance up until your final payment date. However, for maximum benefits including pre-existing condition coverage, you must purchase within 14 days of your initial trip deposit.
